What is 22Dragons?

Based at Lachine in Montreal, 22Dragons is one of the world’s biggest dragon boat club in Canada. With paddlers ranging from beginners to advanced levels, the club includes a very active participation of age groups 40, 50 and 60 in women, men and mixed categories.

What is Dragon Boat?

A combination of cardio, physical strength, mental toughness, synchronization and team spirit, dragon boat is the fastest growing water sport in the world. With over 72 countries active in the sport, dragon boat is a famous sport due to its social, mental, physical and outdoor aspects.

A boat consists of 22 driven people: 10 on each side of the boat, a steer at the back and a drummer at the front of the boat. The whole team on the boat works together in synchronization with one goal in mind: the finish line.

About the program:

Experience Requirement: None. Basic level of fitness*, desire of staying active, and enjoying the sun are recommended.

In the winter:

Paddlers do a mix of circuit, cross-training and technical training in an indoor paddling facility at Canal Fitness.

Each training is typically 90 minutes long in length.

Sessions are held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

$10 per session in the winter

In the summer:

Paddlers train on the historical Lachine Canal with workouts varying from endurance to high-intensity.

From May to September, the club typically completes once a month.

Sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Costs vary according to training frequency and number of competitions
