Blend in your physical education, history and geography classes with a dragon boat activity!
With a dragon boat activity, your students will learn how to paddle, promoting physical education and an active lifestyle. Concurrently, you can build in this activity with your local history and geography curriculum by introducing the role of the Lachine canal in the development of Montreal and Canada as an industrial powerhouse. The Canal was built in 1825 and was used until 1970, welcoming hundreds of factories along its banks and offering passage to the Great Lakes to up to 15 000 ships yearly. Our club is located in Ville Émard, a neighborhood rich in history, tightly intertwined with that of the Lachine Canal and the factories it was once home to, in fact, our offices are located inside an old wool spinning company that was one of the hundreds of factories that was established here because of the Canal. A dragon boat activity with us can enrich your students in so many ways!
